CK2 was my introduction into Paradox, but I enjoy the map painting aspect more so than the individual character flavor. Therefore, EU4 gets the nod for me. Getting better at Stellaris/HOI4 are on my to do list - I think I'd really enjoy both of those games if I figured out how to "git gud" - the front aspect/encirclement strategies of HOI4 are fun (my favorite experience in a HOI4 game so far was playing as China and baiting 200 Japanese divisions into a enlarged front in Inner Mongolia/the Gobi Desert - once there was a sufficient number, I broke through their lines near Beijing to take 2 provinces/create a hilarious encirclement).

Haven't played HOI4 but I've heard it's more accessible than its predecessor. HOI3 will always remain a mystery to me, i could never figure out if i was going to lose or win a battle before actually engaging the enemy.

Seriously? That's interesting. You can still convert our former currency D-Mark to Euro at any branch of our central bank.

Apparently we're a semi-unique case in the Eurozone, convertibility was stopped in 2011-12.

that could be worth a considerable amount to the right collector at the right time.

Still too early, maybe my kids can make use of it :P

  3. I started playing a few months ago thanks to a friend who basically brought me in as a replacement. It's a bit tiring, especially when sessions get to 3-4 hours in length, which is why we space things out (there are usually 7-10 days between each session), but it's a lot of fun.
