  1. This is actually a stupidly niche question that I'm going to give a long answer to:

Whether or not you're good depends on your context. There are levels.

Level 1. I'm better than anyone else in my school, that I regularly play with, or I have a billiards table at my house so I'm pretty good -- Can sometimes go on 3-5 ball runs and usually does well in amateur tournaments at school or somewhere.

Level 2. I'm pretty good at the local pool hall, but I don't win or enter the tournaments - Can inconsistently run the table, but I don't feel confident to play for money other than maybe a $20 bet sometimes.

Level 3. I'm the best at my local pool hall, I regularly win/compete in tournaments for money, I play for hundreds of dollars regularly, I sometimes travel to play in bigger tournaments around me. I consistently can run the table.

Level 4. I am no longer allowed to enter my local tournaments except on special occasion, people will generally not play me for money anymore unless it's an incredible deal like a solid handicap + large wager. If you miss a shot, get comfortable, I will make sure you don't get a turn again. These are people who win scholarships, go on TV to play against celebrities, join national teams to compete internationally, etc.

The skill levels are generally separated by how often they miss, and the top tiers are separated by how well they can strategize.

  2. Hey all,

Just to walk you through how this will roll out, over the next couple of days we'll be going through the following setup for the RP:

    1. Map vote - do you want a real earth map or a hand drawn fantasy world?

    2. Claim your spot and announce your nation - this will be a first-come first-served deal, so be thinking of it as the map vote concludes. There will also be initial limitations on the maximum size of your initial nation.

    3. Establishment of a points system, the rules of play, etc.

    4. Begin!

    :D

  3. Posting this to gauge some interest.

Basically I draw up a map, everyone picks a spot/border, and we just RP with it and have fun. Once or twice a week you can submit certain actions to be taken and they reflect on the map. I've done this before with BK and it got quite deep and ran for maybe a year.

example: You have 20 points to spend per week. It costs 3 points to build an army, 5 points to develop your capital, 2 points to raise taxes, etc. Conversely you could refund points to use elsewhere by undoing certain actions so like dismissing an army would give you back 1 point. etc.

We could use a real Earth map or we could use a map that I hand-draw on MS Paint or we could use whatever.

Roleplay / text posts / "announcements" etc would occur throughout the week, and maybe there could be a newspaper that publishes major events and such weekly as well.

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in starting this up with me, and additionally if anyone would like to help run it?

Without the NAP's I hope you all enjoy never growing past where you are right now because that is what will happen. The winners will continue to out grow you in every way while all you ever do is rebuild only to be rolled again over and over. They won't need several bloc's at a time to roll you, they can just take turns.

As was seen in the last couple of wars, once our whales are beaten down their whales build up out of range and are totally untouchable and can start pumping out money and resources to help their upper tier build out of range as well so that when the war does finally end they have a much shorter rebuild period and they can start to grow much sooner than we can and this problem will just continue to get worse after each war

I fail to see how NAPs address your point either way. The whales get beat down then the enemy gains ahead either way.

Otherwise you've been in pnw long enough to know monthly wars wont be a thing with or without NAPs

Are you glad the NAP is ending soon or do you prefer the peace times?

Does NAP ending preclude warfare and does peace require a global NAP?

I'd argue the NAP has stifled politics during peacetime and created a boring cycle of war every 4-6 months simply due to people "expecting" war after a NAP. As we saw last war, Rose didn't even give a reason for joining but it was just expected because the NAP was over and it was annual wartime.

Hopefully TKR opposes any kind of global NAP's in the future, or at least seeks to shorten them to a month or less.
