The eagle with a crown is my family coat of arms.... Reichsadler.  My family crest is much older than the Nazi and it does not bare any swastika.
 

The Nazi did use an eagle on their emblem, however, theirs does not have a crown. And for the record the eagle has been part of Germany since the Romans and it actually still is to this day in the German emblem.

 

My last name (Reichsadler) is not very common and there’s absolutely no connection with the Nazi. Is it the “Reich” in the last name that is a concern? There are other last names with that in it, for example the more common last name of Reichmann. The second part of my last name “Adler” means eagle in German, which is also a fairly common last name.

 

I hope this dispels any ignorance, and in all honesty that is the first time anyone has had any concerns with my last name either in school or professionally.
