  2. I have a fish as my pet. It's easy to take care of, requires little to no attention, and doesn't wake you up at night. I actually have 3 fishes, and feeding them is just as simple as literally dropping food in their tank.

  3. I voted for no because although the government of Turkey will become more centralized, this won't help in the long run. This is just another path that would lead to a totalitarian government due to how unchecked the president becomes and how much power he/she gets. What Turkey needs to understand is that Democracy isn't the problem, but that Erdoğan himself is.

    Good poll by the way.

I have three exams (high School Certificate or HSC) exams in October.

I mean, I'm doing modern history, English (standard), and society and culture (<---- that one requires me to do a 3,000-5,000 word study on a issue, and it counts for 40% of my external mark))

ive already had around six+ assignments this year and I'm only finishing term 1.

Next term is when I study for Mid year practice exams,

then term three the big HSC exams that I mentioned above.

Ive gotta go through this next year as well,

but then I'll be doing subjects I actually enjoy. (Ancient history, history extension, and probably a language)

Thing is, don't study way to much,

lit destroyes you, for such little gain,

just make Sure you do what you love and are passionate about and then it isn't studying. It's having fun :)

    good luck though my man!

    Youll pass!

Thanks. I'll need it when I get a mountain of paper from my professors. When I told my friends about this, they were like, "What the hell were you thinking when you applied for French C2 (that's compared to learning English in college in the US)". Oh well, good luck on yours though.:D

  5. Once again, trying something new here. For those who don't know, Ho Chi Minh was the Vietnamese leader who helped ended French imperialism in French Indochina while at the same time bringing communism to Vietnam. Many regard Ho Chi Minh as a hero who liberated the people of Vietnam from imperialism, while others view him as a figure who brought communism to Vietnam and thus responsible for the terrible economy they got themselves into.

What do you think? Do you think that Ho Chi Minh is a hero, or a villain?

  6. Is anyone here studying for their finals in their senior year. This spring break has been brutal because while everyone was enjoying themselves, I had to stay home and study for like, what, FIVE finals in the end of the year. APUSH exam, Honors English Finals, Honors Chemistry Finals, AP Calculus, and the worst of all: Advance French Finals. Save me.

  7. As many of you may know, the recent video about United Airlines violently dragging a paying consumer out of an airplane created a lot of anger. This man was dragged out of the airplane because the plane was overbooked. Overbooked is when there are more people going into the plane than the maximum amount of people allowed (basically, more people than there are seats in the plane).

Why do aviation companies overbook airplanes? This is because they know that some people aren't going to make it to their flight. If this is the case, then there are going to be extra seats in the airplane and that would be a lost revenue for the aviation company. So, what they do to fix this problem is by overbooking the flight. They have more people purchase a seat in the airplane than there are actual seats in the airplane (wtf Ryan, your grammar). So, what do you think, do you think that this practice should be abolished or allowed?

  8. The fourth installment in this series. This time, it is a war between India and China, the two heavy weights of Asia. Both countries have a large population and thus have a lot of people in their reserves to muster in a large army. But like always, here are the rules.

    1. No nukes (as always)

    2. War is ONLY between India and China

I think the electoral college should stay but it shouldn't be winner take all in a state, the votes should be divided based on the popular vote in that state

That's quite similar to just a popular vote system. I'm assuming that if 60% of votes go to Democrats in New York, then (about) 60% of the electoral votes would go to the Democratic nominee. If that is the case, then that's pretty much a popular vote contest nationally.

  10. Poll of the day.

The Electoral College is a system in how to determine the next president of the United States. How it works is that the states decide on who the next president is rather than the people as a whole. Some states have more votes than the other because there are more people in that state. The states hold kind of like a mini election where the people in that state vote on who they would like that state to vote for. For instance, if more people in New York vote for Democrat, then ALL the electoral votes go to the Democrat nominee. The candidate with the most electoral votes wins the election. Since the states determine who the president should be, there comes a rare circumstance where the winner of an election wins the electoral vote BUT loses the popular vote (matter in fact, it just happened in the 2016 election). "It's complicated, I get that a lot, mostly from my friends in Europe" - United States

Yes: Seriously, other democracies elect their leaders directly by the people

No: The states should decide who the president should be and to prevent vote by mob rule

  11. Carbon Tax: a tax on fossil fuels, especially those used by motor vehicles, intended to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide. Basically, taxing companies because their emitting CO2 in hopes of reducing carbon emission (theoretically).

Some say that a carbon tax helps make sure that we could slow down climate change while others would say that a carbon tax is ineffective and thus useless. What do you think ma boi? Here is an article if you want to know more about the debate on carbon tax. https://www.usnews.com/debate-club/is-a-carbon-tax-a-good-idea

She could make it to the second round, but I doubt she would win, as she's too extreme right for the center to go to her.

Talk about what happened earlier in the Netherlands though. I think it was Jean Wilders (or something) who was also far right, but lost. The same thing might happen here too.

  14. The 2017 French National Election is coming up in April 23, 2017. There are around 11 candidates participating in this election, but the one that everyone has their eye on is Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Front party of France. Marine Le Pen is quite a controversial figure not only in France but around the world due to her being anti-Semitic, extremism, and threats to have France leave the European Union. Right now, she has a really good chance of actually winning the election, but we'll just have to see. If you want to know more about the candidates, here is a website I found. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-38220690

I think all vaccinations, including flu shots should be mandatory. People should want to be at their strongest and healthiest, and encourage their government to make it accessible.
Unfortunately, people think the nonexistent mercury (lol) in vaccinations makes you get autism.

Technically, there is mercury in vaccines, but it's definitely not enough to kill a person. Besides, the mercury is there to help make you immune system much stronger, not kill you.

I know someone who thinks that vaccines cause autism and I'm just like "Wtf?" The one study that stated a correlation was severely flawed and the doctor who did the study had a patent on an all-in-one MMR vaccine which he claimed decreased the chances of autism. All other studies don't show a correlation.

To anyone who believes vaccines cause autism: 44 seconds to 1 minute mark :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJD1Iwy5lUY

I know that feeling bro. Confronting people like these are trying so hard to give people brain cancer.

  17. For those that don't know, a single payer system is basically providing healthcare to every citizen by having the government pay for healthcare, through taxes of course. Currently, the United States' healthcare system is more of an insurance base. You pay for health insurance and you'll have access to doctors, healthcare, etc.

    Healthcare in the United States

Under Obamacare (keep in mind that Congress hasn't replaced Obamacare yet as of April 6, 2017), the government pays for health insurance for veterans. We also help those over the age of 65 with health insurance through medicare and those who are low in cash through medicaid. However, Obamacare is a really controversial bill because of the individual mandate. An individual mandate is basically the government forcing you to get health insurance or else you'll face a penalty. Overall, the healthcare here in the United States is all messy and some are calling for a single payer system to help fix this mess. What do you think? Do you think that the US should adopt a single payer system? Why or why not?

didn't we already have this discussion compadre?

I think it was about Japanese internment camps being justified or not. If it isn't, then there must've been another poll a while back that I didn't knew about.

  19. Here are some key arguments on both sides. Yes because it helped end the war quicker and prevented the deaths of thousands of American soldiers. No because it was wrong to target civilians as the first targets for a nuclear war. There are more but these are just the main ones for both sides.
