What subjects did you do at the point before you only do one subject (university) so like A Levels in the UK or high school majors in the US I think? For me my A Levels were Maths, Physics and Geography. What a mistake!

High schools don't usually have majors in the US. Our education is fairly general up until the second year of college (uni for you) or so. We do have elective courses in high school that we can choose and some schools encourage you to use those to focus in on 1-2 areas. My high school did that and considered my focuses to be Science and Spanish.

  3. 1. Definitely all human languages cause a) that'd be freaking awesome and b) I would never be out of a job

    2. I am very absentminded so I misplace things frequently. I have to say keys though. You can always find a phone by calling it, easier than keys.

    3. Both suck. But spaghetti hair is better than maple syrup sweat, without a doubt.

And it’s not really heights but falling from high places

Agreed. And I think it's different than heights @Goaty Mcgoatface because at least for me, it's not just from high places. Because I get nervous on like narrow steps or stuff as well too but I went paragliding and, other than the take off of having to literally run off a cliff, I was totally fine being up so high. It's super related but I'm not sure it's the same. It's a fear of falling and injury really.

  5. So, last night, I was minding my own business, up way too late because I'd passed out as soon as I was done with work stuff. It was maybe 3 or so in the morning and I was trying to get to sleep when I heard my cat scratching at the door to be let in. Being my tired lazy self, I was putting it off until I knew I had to get up when I heard an odd sound - a squeak. I got up to investigate and when I did, in comes my cat with a mouse in her mouth.

She then proceeded to take the mouse underneath my bed and when she put it down, I realized the poor thing was still alive. Deciding I didn't want to listen to the mouse's prolonged death while my cat decided to play with her food, or have to clean it up in the morning, I set out trying to capture this mouse. It took about a half hour of pulling out my bed, waiting for the mouse to get somewhere I could reach it only to have my cat scare it off, rinse, repeat until I finally managed to grab it using a plastic bag and take it outside.

So, that's the story of how I (maybe) managed to save a mouse from my little monster of a cat. Maybe I should stop encouraging her with the battery operated mouse toy...

  6. Alright, all over the board here but enjoy. I tried to pick songs I hadn't shared elsewhere yet, that weren't classics (for the most part), and that represented songs from all the different playlists I listen to.

Total playlist running length - 28:45

Going on a bit of a classics/throwbacks binge atm.

Since you're on a classics binge.....

I don't know how familiar you are with this song. It's not one of the more popular Queen songs but I've always thought it a cool song. Mainly because there's a whole "instrumental" part done around 00:58 that's straight vocals. If I remember right, they used different objects to manipulate their vocals to sound like instruments but I'm not entirely sure on that.

You've now posted several times in this thread without a picture...  wtf?

I don't know what you're talking about. You're the only one in here who's posted without a picture 👀

To continue my adventures in Indonesia, here's a picture of an orangutan I was fortunate enough to be able to see while I was there. The rangers there said we were very lucky to have been able to see it as they hadn't seen one in six months. Definitely one of the cooler moments of my trip there, being able to see one of these guys in the wild.

Fun fact: orang hutan (where orangutan come from) means "forest people" in Indonesian.

A few years back, I had a summer internship in Indonesia working with an environmental non-profit in Indonesian Borneo (Kalimantan). Most of our work was split between a local indigenous village and the protected forest area they were trying to establish. The forest was a part of a larger area they used to occupy but due to increased deforestation locally and the rise of palm oil plantations, what is left of their traditional forest is about 3-4 hours away from the village by car and it is not an easy path for a car to travel. When travelling back down one day, we got stuck while trying to avoid areas of the dirt path that had eroded away from the storms. An hour long walk back to the rangers station and several hours of effort later, we managed to free the car. This is a mid-rescue effort photo, where you can see everything they used to try and give the tires some traction and the ropes attached to the front of the car.

Even you don't follow the rules anymore. We all like the pictures and stories though so we don't care :D

A little bit grainy and an old picture but I took this picture in West Palm Beach at the end of the day after passing my SCUBA certification a few years back. A beautiful end to a really exciting and eventful day :)

...and now I understand that this is not a thread about superhero movies

He really has Captain America on the same level of Inception? YrhHJYX.jpg

I really hope Adrienne did my same mistake

He started with superhero movies and then did a "well, I guess other movies are cool to talk about too". But pfffft. Who wants to talk about other movies when you can talk about superhero movies?

I'm re-reading (hearing) this at the moment and the brands that Kal has to deal with bleeding all the time, that then later there is more with his use of stormlight and the brands that comes up in in WoR/OB when develops more oaths. Spoiler: WoR/OB

      Hide contents

Particularly as the other members of bridge 4 begin to use stormlight. As they do, the healing kicks in and they begin to have their brands healed. However, Kal's don't. Why don't his heal? I was thinking it was along the lines of how he felt that they were apart of him. The same kind of thing happens when they all get tattoos. When he uses starlight—it just fades away. I was just wondering what you thought of his brands not fading.

    I

I'm not really sure why but I agree that it's interesting and have wondered the same myself. Your idea about it being thought of as a part of his identity and that being why he doesn't/can't heal it could be it though. I wonder if they have that (un)conscious ability to pick and choose what to heal then.
