Others too if it's humid enough.

Used to. Largely gave up candy in an attempt to be less fat.

I think of it the same way as a surgery. Ethical with consent, if the evidence shows it's more likely to help than harm. There's usually someone empowered to make decisions for people who can't personally consent to medical treatment.

Kerosene is like a slightly lighter, hotter burning diesel. It's a petroleum distillate. I can see something similar being used, but from a non-fossil source.

Depends on the writing style. I generally like more straightforward prose than the over embellished "in love with the sound of their own voice" style of the 19th century.

What's wrong with the bruises? They're just as banana as the rest of the banana.

Can anyone truly know chemical biology? If you look really closely at a chart of cellular processes, it's full of placeholders for reactants we haven't fully identified.

Maybe. Probably not with lithium ion batteries. Liquid fuels have the weight saving features of getting used up during flight and taking part of the reactants from the air. We may end up relying on synthetic fuels made using electricity from ground-based powerplants as an energy storage medium.

I'm of the opinion that the only time taking a life is justified is to resolve an imminent threat to life. Someone in custody is not an imminent threat.

I think we're at the point where we could do it but it would be prohibitively expensive and dangerous. It'll take space-based heavy manufacturing as well as mitigating the effects of radiation and low gravity on the body before we can do anything more than short duration science outposts like in The Martian.
