In the midwest, we just went from snow to 90s with a month of rain in between. Spring just doesn't exist anymore.

As long as there's a lopsided transactional relationship between businesses and workers, there will be a place for unions.

Russia will certainly want option 2 at some point, now that option 1 is more or less off the table. The Ukrainians will be less willing to give it to them now that they've seen some success.

As an aside I think it a travesty that anyone needs to seek aid/intervention from a government rather than their family and/or community, though unfortunately many such instances occur.
At what point does "community" end and "government" begin? Maybe those of us who favor government safety nets just view them as a more formalized community support structure, with economies of scale built in.

AR, if they can get it into a contact lens or even just normal glasses, could totally replace phones. VR has a few more hurdles to jump. It's not going to get far as long as it's a nausea-inducing toaster strapped to your face.
As for predicting what will happen in a few decades, technology's moving way too fast now as it is. We might be on the cusp of superintelligent robots really soon. When those come around, all bets are off.

Probably not going to replace digital for general purpose computing, but may be used as coprocessors for specific tasks.
