  1. I played a game of DnD with a friend during time in HS when we'd finish our work and had some free time. I ended up summoning Kathulu and conjuring a meteor to nuke some elvish tree during my war to conquer the world.

    I  got a lot of natural 20s...

  2. I tend to agree with the positive points that he showed during his Presidency. Particularly with regard to foreign affairs. It was pretty clear by this time that the PRC would be staying for a while longer and losing access to this large market negatively effected the American citizen.

However, the subsequent trade negotiations with China may have put the American middle class under siege. Gone was "made in America" replaced by "made in China" this at least has its roots with the Nixion Presidency.

Reports from the Vietnam war suggested that a peace had been made with the North with the US guarantee.of the South's sovereignty post pull out. The US pulled out and shortly after "not immediate" the North invaded and the US did nothing, de facto losing the Vietnam War. The outcome of the war has proved to be a stain on American history that had geopolitical implication even reaching into the modern Age. Negotiating a peace with the North was a victory, but failing to uphold the guarantee with the South was a failure even if the war was unpopular.

A realm where is he slightly more controversial is in the domestic realm. Nixion was the first President to popularize the "war on drugs" a war that continues to rage this day and has proven to be infamous. It has lead to the continued unpopular decriminalization of marijuana regardless of its medical implications (in many not all states) simply because of inertia. There are numerous and credible sources that he targeted prominent members of his colored citizens in an effort to undermine the growing political consciousness the group has a whole had started to exhibit.

This predisposition to use the government in order to achieve personal political ends was not limited to the blacks. His "list of enemies" is well known and contained the names of personal and political enemies he would have members of his power structure keep an eye on. This implicit "spying" and his paranoia eventually led to the Watergate scandal and while he most likely did not specifically instruct it, the following cover up was a misuse of Presidential power.

Even considering that, he did achieve a number of good domestic policies at home as well. He effectively ended segregation in places it was still quietly in practice as well as headed a number of environmental protection leaps (clean air/water act, establishment of the epa)

He had the makings of a really good President despite some misgivings, but it did seem he acted for the most part with the interests of the American people at heart. Elected with the highest mandate in the history of the Presidency. That is not something bad Presidents can do.

  3. If the RAF losses the BoB, how does Nazi Germany not win the war? With UK capitulation and undisputed supremacy of the Mediterranean/Suez, oil fields are within their reach. I believe Barbarossa had even taken place in substitution of a Sealion, so that might not have even happened if the lader had succeeded. At least not in the same time frame that we are familiar with.

  4. One of the most infamous Presidents in US history.

Was he a no good crook/terrible President

    or

Was he on the bad end of a series of unfortunate events that have tainted an otherwise decent Presidency?

    You decide!

It certainly changes, and empire management is a bit less interesting, though as your empire becomes larger factions become more prevelent and need to be managed more so its really just different (unless you enslave/purge the dissidents which is what I am doing for my first play through which does make it easier.)

Wars become more interesting later on though when people have more fleets and ftl can take you deeper in for raids and such, so its still fun there.  But as the interesting parts switch from empire management to wars I can see it being a bit stale in the rebuilding phase between wars.

there's a multiplayer option too right?

Stellaris is awesome btw, totally recommend it.

I've heard it can get kind of repetitive/stale once you get out from the initial expanding/building phase thoughts?

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 23, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your poll gave me cancer anyway.

On topic, I wouldn't pay for anything sexual when there are virtual mountains of free material on the internet. My money can be used in more productive ways, like buying games.

Edit: Oh, didn't notice the money was in game currency. In that case I really wouldn't buy it. My currency is sacred and will only be used to build my glorious empire.

Yup different cultures. A lot of things about trade fixed and upgraded. Reputation is a lot more important and harder to game. Bad stuff happens if you have low stability. Getting cores became really hard if you weren't a cultural/religious fit.

Attrition was really important and provinces were much harder to conquer. Small things like the game penalizing you if you had a huge standing army or unrealistic cavalry focus. Navies were a cultural thing - very significant game decision if you wanted to build a powerful navy.

Magna Mundi was very event based. So if you were playing in the Mediterranean, you had to deal with Barbary pirates. In the Hanseatic league, you had the politics. European nations had the spice route path and all that.

Little details like that event tid bit are always awesome to see. Gives a unique experience aside from shallow geographical differences that you get to experience. Always appreciated those kinds of things

The best EU3 mod. Long story, but it was supposed to be a standalone EU game in itself. But it died dramatically. Then people made a lot of other mods for it.

It makes the game way more realistic and adds more interesting ways to play but a lot of people hate it because they can no longer just conquer everything without their empire collapsing on itself.

sounds neat. i assume you have to deal with penalties and stuff for the differences in culture/logistics/rebellions and stuff?

Mods are the best part of almost any game i've played. Add so many more playable hours.

  10. I attribute it less to a rape society and more of a sexually charged one. Everything uses sex to sell items, society is bombarded with sexual connotations and advertisements. Hell, one of the measuring units of manliness is how much sex he gets. I think having sex be something that isn't hush hush and repressed is a sign of a healthier society, having it define your society is not.
