Yes, albeit I await the day when it will no longer be necessary.

    I completely agree.

I would also say that human ethics should extend to animals to a certain extent. We, as people, should not subject other species to large amounts of pain or deprive them of necessities of life in the name of science unless completely necessary for whatever reason. I just think they is always going to be a better way

  2. The collectivist nationality of Japan (and many other Asian and African nations) would have meant fighting for every inch of every island in the American's push to topple the Japanese government. I would estimate based on my limited research and what I have heard that dropping the bomb on those two Japanese cities probably resulted in fewer deaths that would have the continued traditional bombing runs and an amphibious assault of the main islands. Still, the United States needed a chance to capitalize on its global power projection and the atomic bomb was that.

The ethics should hardly be considered because in order to even get to the point of the bomb you must first justify war from the beginning, which from a purely moral standpoint is hard to do. All of WW2 is not an ethics study but rather one in foreign policy, ideology, and psychology of the masses around the world. Aggression, interventionism, isolationism, or pacifism? Whims of the people that comes with democracy, direct and simple leadership of a small group, or some combination thereof? Will the world respond in fear, resistance, or jealousy to the unleashing of the greatest weapon in humankind's history?

The ethics surrounding WW2 are terrible; every side of every front acted as monsters at one time or another, even the blessed and divine Anglo-American forces. What?! You mean the Brits and Yanks aren't the undisputed "good guys"?! Yes. The war and culture surrounding it were disastrous dark times in the story of the modern world but that isn't what the war was about. It was the retaliation of failing democratic societies to reassert dominance and unite their own people.

So back to the bomb. Justified or Not? It's irrelevant in my opinion. It was war and however terrible the death toll was or could have been, War is a terrible stain on human nature wherever more than 10 humans are gathered under one banner with differing opinions from those around them. You can understand war but it's almost impossible to justify any part in it, including the bombs dropped on Japan.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Army, charged from their recent victory is ready to charge across the border into E30 after tales of fine resources in the lands. 8. By oder of the Brittean Royal Governor, Barton de Humber we be offered administrative rights to the State he had previously occupied. The only conditions are as follows:

-He must agree to house and include an adviser of the Royal Governor in all matters of state and colony importance
-He must offer Brittean forces quarter in times of peace and war with the understanding that his own soldiers may be asked to serve the Colony on the Isle of Britain

-He must allow the Brittean Colony to build schools, medicine booths, and a harbour in his state once the village has been repaired

-He must also fly the flag of the Brittean Colony alongside his own over the governing building of the city.

Will the Barton accept this humble and generous offer?

  9. The commander looks in the direction of the village, "Sun Tzu says that all of these options suck ass"

Upon conferring with this advisers and most senior officers he decides that the most applicable of Sun Tzu's teachings is "if twice as numerous, divide our army into two"

Near duck, in a smaller vessel the commander sends a force of 30 Men-at-Arms, 30 Pikemen, 20 Militia, and 60 Longbowmen.

While the village defenders watch the ship slide up the river, the sun shines bright in their eyes from the sky and the surface of the water.

325 M-a-A, 275 Pikemen and 140 Militia ready to storm the walls at the Commander's call. 50 Longbowmen will remain a hundred meters back from the wall to cover any possible retreat or counter offensive that may be within range.

The remaining 25 M-a-A, 25 Pikemen, 15 Militia, as well as the logistical support remain behind on the land nearest the Transport ship.

Whenever the first horn is heard from the commander, the ship adjusts course for the village's waterfront. The second horn blasts the air within minutes and the assault from the east begins. As the ship turns to broadside the village, the 60 Longbowmen aboard begin firing volleys of arrows into the near-side of the village targeting anything that moves. After several volleys, the Longbowmen cease firing lest they strike their own men.

Let's see what happened!  Oh @Priydan!!!

  10. "Damn that intelligent pig"

The Commander instructs the men to hold a vigilant mind and stay fully armed for battle. The ship is reloaded and the men sail off to the north of Britain Island to E29. The last of the men board the ship under cover of darkness and sail across the channel to EH gathering supplies before continuing up the coast to their destination. They are also joined by New Troops at port.

    The total force is now:
    350 Men-at-Arms, 300 Pikemen, 175 Militia, 110 Longbowmen, 2 Supply Wagons, 4 Healers, and 1 Spy

  11. The commander decides it best to stand and fight.

The men on the beaches move into formation with Men-at-Arms in front and Pikemen close behind.

Some Militia occupy the unloading ramp, shoulder to shoulder while the rest move below deck to hold the stores and supplies.

The 80 Longbowmen claim the deck and set arrows on their strings.

As men continue to unload on the shore,  forming a wall to protect the ship, the commander awaits advance of the horde so that arrows may rain down upon them.

    To the soldiers he says:

"Sun Tzu says not to oppose an army attacking downhill.

    We are doing just that.

He also says never to attack an enemy when they have no escape other than victory or death.  The barbarians are doing just that; for if we meet defeat this day, not a soul is going home. We win here, or we die here. Should any man turn his back to the enemy, his head shall meet my swift blade."

Following orders, the Longbowmen on the ship and the infantry on the shore steady their feet, settle their hips, and set their eyes on the enemy.

"Your move" he says while quietly starring in the direction of the hill, his men settle into ranks.

  12. The Royal Governor has commanded that his forces be reorganized and reinforced. The Northern Brittean Army has received some much desired company. The Army is now one of 135 Men-at-arms, 135 Pikemen as well as 50 Militia and 70 Light Horsemen for support. They are supported by 2 expert blacksmiths, 1 large supply wagon, and 3 of the nations best healers and currently await in E10 for further commands

    --------------

It was also announced today that the Atlantean leaders have commanded our Great Royal Governor to claim a portion of the Normandy coastline (D51). As such, today a Transport ship sailed off under the cheers and waves of the Capital city's people crowding the military dock.

Aboard the vessel were 250 Men-at-Arms and 200 Pikemen supported by the nation's best 175 Militiamen and 80 expert Longbowmen. Below deck one would find 2 supply wagons and 4 healers.

It is only a matter of hours before these great men set foot on the continent and approach whatever dangers there may lay in wait.

May the banner of the Brittean Colony forever fly!

  13. The Royal Governor of Brittean Atlantis took to the stage today to a dress his people:

"My fellow Atlanteans,  we have seen a great growth in recent times. Our borders have grown, our school system has been revitalized,  we have harbors being completed all around the nation.  The Brittean Colony is thriving! A recent publication of the Herald...

which has spread around the continent surprisingly fast now that I think about it... the printing press won't break into Europe until 1440...

Anyway! The Herald announced the thriving milk industr- "

It's was at this time, great great great great great great granddaddy Trump climbed the tapestry up to the Royal Governor's terrace and addressed the Atlanteans himself.

"Our milk is the best milk, and I really mean that. We have, the best milk around, and I'll tell you this, listen to this: Our milk... (wait for it) is better than CHINA'S! They're trying to ruin our milk market, it's true, but I won't let them.

It's better, we're better, it's great here. We aren't as great as we have been, but we're great here.

But Mexico, Mexico's taking our milkmaids' jobs! How did we let this happen?

We are going to take our great milk, the best in the world, and we're going to stand up to China. We're going to stand up to China. We're going to stand up for our hard working milkmaids. We are going to

    Make

    Atlantis

    Great

    Again!"

The Trump then pats the Royal Governor on the back and is dragged away by the Capital Guards

    "Thank you, Trump...

Just keep doing great things Atlanteans, support great projects in your home states, and we shall rise to prominence over all of Europe."

He then gladly gave every Atlantean in attendance a free cow to do with what they will.

Onward to E10 Atlanteans! Claim the lands bordering our Mother, the Sea!

Each nation has the right to claim one blank state adjacent to their current State at a rate of ONE new state per ONE IRL day.

To each player the neutral states are entirely blank to begin with, until they start filling them in. The MODs however possess a second map detailing the state of those neutral States. On the MOD map there is the following guide:

    1.       Blank State. The State is free for the taking without any moderation recourse.

A small blank state provides the State holder with 30 000 new citizens and basic natural resources..

A medium blank state provides the State holder with 50 000 new citizens and basic natural resources.

A large blank state provides the State holder with 100 000 new citizens and basic natural resources

    2.       Brown State. This State will resist with force. You must defeat this nation to claim it in a single pitched battle. If you do not wish to fight, you will not claim the area and lose your turn.

A small brown state provides the State holder with 40 000 new citizens and basic natural   resources. They are defended by 1000 Militia Units.

A medium brown state provides the State holder with 75 000 new citizens and above average natural resources. They are defended by 2000 Militia, 500 Spearmen & 500 Light Horsemen.

A large brown state provides the State holder with 150 000 new citizens and great natural resources. They are defended by 5000 Militia, 1000 Spearmen, 500 Longbowmen, 500 Light Horsemen.

    3.       Purple State. This is State is civilised and friendly an assimilate to your nation.

A small purple state provides the State holder with 50 000 citizens, 1 barracks and 1 wooden fort with basic natural resources.

A medium purple state provides the State holder with 75 000 citizens, 1 stable and 1 stone fort with medium natural resources.

A large purple state provides the State holder with 125 000 new citizens, 1 siege workshop, 1 stable and a basic castle and large natural resources.

    4.       Gold State. This State comes with the risk of a natural or civil disaster.

A small gold state provides the State Holder with 20 000 new citizens. It will however trigger possible minor disasters, such as small flooding, small smallpox outbreak etc. Basic natural resources.

A medium gold state provides the State Holder with 50 000 new citizens. It will however trigger possible medium sized disasters, such as medium sized earthquakes, medium outbreaks of dysentery amongst troops, etc. Medium natural resources.

A large gold state provides the State Holder with 100 000 new citizens. It will however trigger possible major disasters, such as rebellion, plague outbreak and desertion. Large natural resources.

    5.       Green State. This State comes with an abundance of natural resources.

A small green state provides the State Holder with 15 000 new citizens. It provides an abundance of resources.

A medium green state provides the State Holder with 35 000 new citizens. It provides a plethora of resources.

A large green state provides the State Holder with 80 000 new citizens. It provides a mother-lode of resources.

    The Spy

Nations are not required to expand every day, although turns cannot accumulate. If a nation builds a spy, they may use the spy to scout an adjacent region. They can move in on the same turn, however the spy is now defunct.

    Ranking

The more states you own, the greater your reputation will be – so even those risky Brown and Yellow states are worth owning. Players can obtain each rank depending on how many states they

own (including starting states). The size of nations does not apply here.

10 States – Local Power – no extra credit

    20 States – Regional Power - +50 extra credit

    30 States – Medium-Sized power - +150 extra credit

    40 States – World Power + 300 extra credit

    75 States – Superpower + 1000 extra credit

    100 States – Hyperpower + 3000 extra credit

TIPS & CONQUEST OF FELLOW RP NATIONS

Territory may be exchanged with another nation providing it is adjacent to a state owned by said nation. You can exchange for similar size state (small, medium, large) or trade for Military Credit (300 Small, 500 Medium, 1000 Large)

Remember that you cannot be conquered by another player without them controlling all Medium or Large castles in your territory - spread them out! Invading armies can attack 2 adjacent squares per Day. You can choose whether to contest the region or withdraw. Remember, 5 pitched battles must be won by the aggressor. Defenders cannot launch an attack on the aggressors territory without achieving 3 defensive victories first.

It may seem an advantage to start as an Eastern Empire as there are much larger states there - but that comes at the price of much larger barbarian nations which are more frequent there.
