Even if we could address all the very valid concerns mentioned above regarding the certainty of guilt, I would remain opposed to capital punishment. Capital punishment is an act of revenge, not a deterrent. While it may bring some measure of comfort to victims and their families, I am of the view that states should not be in the business of deciding which of their citizens are allowed to live and which ones must die.
