  1. The Current Ottoman Foreign Policy Internal

Outlined by New Foreign Minister Tolan

    SHORT TERM GOALS

Resolving Cypriot Question - Northern Cyprus must remain sovereign to the Grand Ottoman Empire (TGOE). Preferably diplomatically, however the Army of the Aegean in on standby to engage hostile EF forces. If conflict arises, TGOE respects the NEUTRALITY of the Grand Republic's airbases on Cyprus, however should they aid the EF these airbases will be upraged to HOSTILE.

    IMPORTANCE: LEVEL 5

Becoming a member of the AHA - It is seen as vital that TGOE is accepted into the AHA to form a great bloc. It would provide safety to Ottoman citizens and improve the nation economically.

    IMPORTANCE: LEVEL 4

Improving relations with Russia - After a gaffe by former minister Bohan, TGOE is desperate to repair slightly damaged relations with Russia.

    IMPORTANCE: LEVEL 4

    LONG TERM GOALS

Stemming Greek nationalism - TGOE regards Greek interference in Cyprus to be an act of open hostility. We are keeping a close eye on our neighbours actions in the Mediterranean.

    IMPORTANCE: LEVEL 2

Kurdistan (Northern Iraq/Syria) - Kurdish envoys have approached Ottoman ambassadors about seceding. Whilst ideally they would be independent states, they acknowledge that without Ottoman military support any chance to break away will not succeed. Both nations (IRAQ/SYRIA) are beleaguered with civil war and it is not expected that they would resist. Syrian President Assad is now seen to be desperate to end the civil war, and envoys have suggested privately that he will allow Kurdistan to secede to TGOE if they commit ground & air forces in Syria. Iraq is not thought to be so keen, and the past 13 years of war in the country do not suggest that TGOE military intervention would lead to peace. However, if TGOE becomes a member of the AHA, it is thought that the Iraqi government would not be able to resist and even potentially the whole nation could come back under TGOE influence if allowed a degree of political and religious autonomy, resolving the Oil crisis in the Empire.

    IMPORTANCE: LEVEL 5

  2. Ottoman Empire President Erdogan has denied making a knee-jerk reaction after he ordered the dismissal of his up and coming Minister for Foreign Affairs, saying he was acting in the interests of the Nation.

However, the Free Turkish Press press today described Erdogan's move as "reactionary", with some saying it was a blatant attempt to cosy up to "The Great Russian Bear" after a perceived slight by Minister Bohan.

"I never intended, through my decisions, to criticise the work of the government as a whole or be unjust towards Minister Bohan, but I deemed it necessary to to act so that we advance towards a better diplomatic standing in the world at large. We praise Minister Bohan for his dedication is resolving the Cyprus Crisis, however private remarks to staffers showed a blatant and dangerous disregard to building bridges with the AHA. Tonight, I have contacted our Ambassador to Moscow, Jencuk Tolan  and he has accepted the position of Foreign Minister. We hope that Mr Tolan will approach the role with the same vigour and zeal as he has in his work abroad as Ambassador, and display more tact than his predecessor" Erdogan claimed in a speech outside the government building in Ankara today.

"I wish former Minister Bohan all the best in civilian life, and again we applaud the majority of his work over the last 2 years" he said "I did not intend to shame the Foreign Ministry and their critical work, however of late I have felt a change is needed," he added, saying that he had "the interests of Ottoman sovereignty in mind".

Junior Foreign Minister Ferec Telem was also released from his role, state television announced, only hours after emails were leaked from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of  aggressive and reactionary intent towards Russia if it did not co-operate diplomatically with resolving the crisis in Northern Cyprus. The President also decided to scrap a key constitutional document which allowed the Foreign Minister to initiate talks with foreign nations without his direct consent, the government spokesperson said.

The news of Bohan's dismissal came as a surprise to many, as he was seen as one of the leading lights of the government and admired for his tenacity in defending Cyprus, and some find it alarming the speed in which President Erdogan dismissed him, with some suggesting that the President was overeaching himself and removing potential rivals.

However, thousands of pro-AHA citizens gathered outside the Government buildings to praise the President for his actions.

"The people support the President's decision," the crowd chanted "Cyprus is sovereign!", showing renewed hope that the issue will soon be resolved if Russia is brought into the fold.

A few discerning protestors made their voices heard, calling Erdogan "Tyrant!" and several crude placards depicted Erdogan in acts of submissive sexual behaviour with the Russian Foreign Minister, before being removed by armed policemen.

Former Minister Bohan is yet to make a statement and has not been seen since leaving the governemnt buildings several hours ago. The pro-Erdogan news station Channel 6 News said the following:

"President Erdogan has today showed his strength and has exercised his authority," Anchor Tey Kirkmaz said. "He has rooted out a weed that threatened to provoke The Great Bear and was a danger to national security.". Internationally the world watches will mild caution, wondering if Erdogan has simply acted in the interests of the State or is furthering his ambitions to be Dictator. It is understood that Erdogan has spoken with General Ivanov and resolved thise issue, however Moscow is still yet to publicly respond.

New foreign minister Tolan is deeply pro-Russia and a keen nationalist. He has served in Moscow admirably, however he is not held in particular high regard by other Ministers, many who felt more qualified than him in the role. Is this an attempt to cosy up to Russia? How will the rest of the world react? What has become of Minister Bohan?

  3. The Grand Ottoman Empire supports India's claim to Sri Lanka, Bhutan & Nepal. They have proven to be a progressive nation, removing tired governments from power and re-energising stagnant states. Any so called "freedom fighters" will be regarded as terrorists by the Ottoman Empire, and it rejects Algeria's criticism of India wholeheartedly.

  4. *-------BREAKING NEWS-------*

Following a perceived slight against the nation of Russia, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Selcuk Bohan has been fired by President Erdogan earlier today. Erdogan is said to have been infuriated by the Foreign Minister, when leaked emails showed he would support Georgian rebels if Russia failed to act in the Cypriot Situation. Selcuk Bohan, until just recently had been lobbying for international support had been considered one of the brightest stars of Ottoman politics. Witnesses saw Bohan exiting the Government buildings in Ankara in a hurry, declining to make any statements to the waiting press - whom it is rumoured had been tipped off by Erdogan. Bohan's career is surely finished now, the world waits for President Erdogan to make a statement and name a successor. It must surely come as blow to the Grand Ottoman Empire to lose it's Foreign Minister at a time when international relations are fraught...

  5. The Grand Ottoman Empire seeks only to align itself with the great nation of Russia, who we see as a natural ally. The great Nations of India & Sino Republic have agreed to work alongside us on this matter. We however have made no threats and would never seek to jeopardize our relationship with Russia.(note: those are merely conditions of the actions of everyone role playing - they are not part of the official message and therefore are not a threat and not public knowledge - to make it more interesting!)

  10. *------AN URGENT MESSAGE FROM THE GRAND OTTOMAN EMPIRE-------*

    Recipients:

    Russia

    India

    Sino Republic

The Ottoman Empire would like to discuss terms with the venerable leaders of the nations of Russia, The Sino Republic and India.

Ottoman sovereignty has been challenged by the European Federation in Cyprus. Under the guise of a united Europe, Greek Nationalists have appealed to the EF to remove us from the North of Cyprus. This is an outrage. We see Cyprus as our birthright and a key part of our Empire. We fear the reprisals against ethnic Turkish Cypriots if the Island is taken. We refuse to withdraw our military from the area.

We sent our Ambassador to Cyprus to speak with EF Delegates 1 week ago, however he has not reported back to us since arriving in Athens. We fear he may have been taken hostage. This is a diplomatic outrage with surely requires the international condemnation from the major world alliances. We must re-iterate that we wish to resolve matters diplomatically. We have a strong military, but the combined power of the EF means that currently we have too few bargaining tools. Therefore, we appeal to your great nations for diplomatic aid.

The Ottoman Empire remains the great bastion between East and West, it would be surely beneficial to secure the region to prevent European Expansion. Also, be sure that we do not offer nothing in return.

    To Russia:

    • We will open up the Black Sea to the Mediterranean at Istanbul to give unilateral access to your ships, military and merchant. We shall drop toll and tariff prices from 3% to 0.5% for all your ships, creating a thriving economic trade route to the Crimea.
    • Should Russia seek to expand into the upper Middle East, The Ottoman Empire shall support it both diplomatically & militarily.
    • Open up a military base in Northern Cyprus (Limited to 5000 Ground Forces, small aircraft and Armour but with missile capabilities)
    • We would like a beneficial trade deal with oil. Terms can be arranged.
    • To support our Nuclear program. The Ottoman Empire reiterates that is does not wish to create Nuclear Weaponary.

    To India:

    • We openly support Indian expansion and acknowledge it's sovereignty in Bhutan.
    • We support Indian expansionism in the South Asian sphere, provided that it does not try to quell the influence of Islam.
    • We would like a beneficial trade deal with oil. Terms can be arranged.
    • To support our Nuclear program. The Ottoman Empire reiterates that is does not wish to create Nuclear Weaponary.
    • We are open to outsourcing Turkish military and economic projects to your country.

    To Sino Republic:

    • We would reduce the tariff on imported goods from the Sino Republic.
    • Offer our counter-terrorism Special Forces (1000 men) to assist in suppressing Mongolian rebels.
    • To support our Nuclear program. The Ottoman Empire reiterates that is does not wish to create Nuclear Weaponary.
    • We are open to outsourcing Turkish military and economic projects to your country.

We look forward to your combined co-operation on this matter.

    Signed

    President Erdogan

    Results of Actions:

Should Cyprus be allowed to fall diplomatically, Turkish Nationalism will rocket, with country becoming more insular. Ottoman Empire will place heavy embargoes on EF member nations. National service will be re-introduced and military spending will rapidly increase. The Ottoman Empire will look to replace Cyprus with targets such as Armenia, Syria, Jordan & Iraq. Reprisals by the Greek Cypriots against Turkish Cypriots will lead to a short civil war and with some ethnic cleansing, with many Turkish Cypriots repatriating to the mainland after the governemtn passes The Repatriation Act.

If Russia fails to aid The Ottoman Empire, it will close the strait of Istanbul to Russian ships, leading to economic stagnation in the Crimea and trapping the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The Ottoman Empire will secretly fund Georgian rebels against Russia.

If India fails to aid The Ottoman Empire, it will actively oppose Indian expansionism in Asia, and make it illegal to outsource projects to the any member of the Indian alliance. It will not recognize India in Bhutan.

If Sino Republic fails to aid The Ottoman Empire, it will not recognize Sino claims to Mongolia. Tariffs on imported Sino goods will skyrocket.

Should the Cypriot matter be solved diplomatically in Ottoman favor, they will do everything pledged above. They will cool fiery relations with the EF and not move away from Europe. National service will not be re-introduced. Turkish pride and nationalism will soar, but interest in military expansion in the Middle East will cool off - for now. Greek Nationalism will decrease in the mainland but rise in Cyprus.

Should the Cypriot matter be solved militarily in Ottoman favor, they will be forever bound to the nations that assisted them. Should the Cypriot matter fall in favor of the EF militarily, President Erdogan will see his popularity fall and have to renounce Ottoman sovereignty to the island. Support for incarcerated Prime Minister Yilmaz will increase in mainland Turkey. It will not be possible to repatriate Turkish Cypriots, prolonging a civil war and exacerbating ethnic cleansing.

  11. The Grand Ottoman Empire would like to congratulate the great efforts to unify the Scandanavian states. A shared culture working under one banner. It is with sadness that we must report that there are some who seek to disrupt cultural unity - we refer to Northern Cyprus which the EF is attempting to take from us for the Greek Nationalists. We fear that they will use military force, and that ethnic Turkish Cypriots will be subject to fierce reprisals from Greek Cypriots. We hope you can understand this grave situation, and we hope that you will support us in resolving this issue peacefully on an international forum. Again, we offer our sincere congratulations on your unification - may you stay forever free.

    Selcuk Bohan

    Minister for Foreign Affairs

  12. On 11/12/2016 at 8:52 AM, Patriot Girl said:

After several days of lengthy discussions, the first European summit concluded with several groundbreaking decisions:

    1. In hopes of protecting themselves from eastern powers' aggressions, Switzerland and Belgium hereby agreed to merge into the European Federation, becoming EF states in the process.

    2. The European Federation, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, and Austria will work together in multiple sectors, particularly the militarization of Europe, this includes the formation of a Mutual Defense Treaty pact between signatories.

    3. Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, and Austria agreed to have EF military units stationed within their borders, in exchange for protection by European Federation.

During the summit, delegations from Greece and Cyprus also met with EF leaders and discussed several issues concerning Turkey's occupation of the northern third of Cyprus and Greece's massive debt. Cyprus agreed to merge into the EF in exchange for the liberation of its northern third, and Greece in exchange for removal of its massive debt.

With Cyprus now being an EF state, a military operation against Turkish military contingent occupying Northern Cyprus is expected in the near future, since Turkey had refused to withdraw from the area, even after being warned by EF officials.

The Grand Ottoman Empire, formerly the Republic of Turkey finds the actions of the European Federation antagonistic and unjust. We will not withdraw our military from the area as we see Northern Cyprus as a part of our Empire. We do not accept Greek nationalism under the guise of a United Europe. We are a strong nation and we will forge political ties with other alliances if provoked.

We do not wish for this to develop into military conflict, so we send our Ambassador to Cyprus, Mesut Sahin, to speak with the European Federation. The European Federation must agree to a truce while we negotiate the Cypriot question. I trust he will be received.

The Grand Ottoman Empire will happily work towards a peaceful resolution of this situation, however we will react with military force accordingly if provoked.

    Signed,

    President Erdogan

First Leader of The Grand Ottoman Empire,

  13. "Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the Nation"

    Background:

The Grand Ottoman Empire was borne from the Republic of Turkey, and looks to replicate it's historical importance. Turkey was officially run by the head of state, President Erdogan, and head of the government Prime Minister Yildrim. However, Erdogan staged a coup and is now both the head of state and head of the government. Former Prime Minister Yildrim is held captive in the national state prison in the capital of Ankara with several key supporters. Protests have been staged around the country against Erdogan, however he is fully supported by the Military & the judiciary system, of which he has controlled. Resultingly, Ottoman citizens find their social freedoms reduced, as social media is banned. Nationalism is on the rise, and Erdogan seeks to move the country away from Europe.

    State of the Nation:

The education system is distinctly average and lags behind many developed nations. It is not seen as a priority in changing this.

The nation is largely Muslim, and whilst the state is still technically regarded as Secular, is moves ever closer to adopting Islam as the basis of laws & regulation.

The nation looks toward building Nuclear power stations by 2023, however the rise of nationalism has disturbed Western powers, who now see that the new Empire is moving away from them.

Healthcare is basic. Again, it is not seen as a priority.

The government is concerned by the lack of roads & railways and sees this as a key area of improvement.

Science and development are reasonable, and are considered important. Turkey is looking into creating a viable Space Programme.

The Empire has a generally large and well trained army, often ranking in the top 20 in the world for each category. President Erdogan is the nominal Commander in Chief.

Head of the Navy: Selcuk Sahin

    Government and Politics:

    Key Current Government-

    President: Tayyip Erdogan

    Minister of War: Mehmet Turkyilmaz

Minister of the Interior: Emre Kaya

Minister of Foreign Affairs: Selcuk Bohan - SACKED -

    Ambassador to Cyprus Mesut Sahin

The Ottoman Empire, like Turkey before it is divided into 7 regions, which are now governed by a Governor-General. These are powerful individuals with military backgrounds, hand-picked by the President himself. They are still subject to the Government, however they also influence local policy.

      Regional Governor General
    MARMARA REGION Erkin Ozgur
    EGE REGION Harun Akarsu
    MEDITERRANEAN REGION Necip Elmas
    SOUTH ANATOLIA Haluk Isler
    EAST ANATOLIA Mevluk Gulen
    INNER ANATOLIA Idi Turkyilmaz
    BLACK SEA REGION Rasim Koray

    Current Aims:

OIL - despite being in the Middle East, The Ottoman Empire is not one of the regions chief oil producers. It is considering military expansion towards a weakened Iraq, or a bolder stroke towards Egypt.although worries about foreign intervention and international condemnation. The geographical location of Turkey would make an oil deal with Russia ideal, and it looks towards The Great Bear fondly.

NUCLEAR - With oil supplies not guaranteed, The Ottoman Empire looks toward Nuclear Power and already has 3 stations under construction. Currently Turkey does not seek to use Nuclear weaponary, however it is not adverse to the idea.

CYPRUS - The Ottoman Empire looks towards Northern Cyprus with worry. It sees Cyprus as part of its birthright. They will not allow the EF to annex the Island.

MILITARY - Conscription is compulsory for males between 20-41 for 3 years so has a large general reserve. However, with the defence of Cyprus one of Erdogans chief goals, The Ottoman Empire must be prepared for war if all else fails and reservists may be called upon. Mine defences are under construction in the south, facing Nicosia, and 2 further mine defenses placed in the west facing the Greek Islands . 2 Frigates have been commissioned , and the airforce is being reviewed. The defense budget expenditure will be reviewed in due course.
